Unique Wedding Veils - Tulle and Birdcage Veils

I get a lot of brides visiting my website asking for unique wedding veils and unique bridal veils with headpieces. Not every bride wants to wear the same traditional tulle white wedding veil available at every single bridal store in the world.  Maybe you want a vintage veil, or a contemporary modern veil, or a retro bubble veil or hat veil reminiscent of your favorite style era.  Colored wedding veils can be created in any color from champagne, to black, red, pink, and every color of the rainbow.

If you'd like a truly bespoke bridal veil, a custom bridal veil design in any length and color can be created to match your wedding style, theme, and colors.  Or, you can order one of these unique veil designs below directly from my online web store at http://www.EllenMarieDesign.com

If you have a bridal veil design concept and in mind, please contact me and I can provide a quote to create your veil and headpiece.

Bridal Veil Trends
The tulle birdcage veils and tulle and birdcage French net mixed veils have become popular for 2012, and offer a unique bridal veil that you are unlikely to find at your local bridal store.  Bridal veil trends such as the vintage veil and headpiece are still going strong.  Mixing a tulle or French net veil along with a hair flower or feather fascinator is obviously a popular look.

Here are just a couple unique wedding veil styles:

Real Bride - Wedding Photos of Cher's Wedding

I am always thrilled when brides send me their wedding photos.  Cher sent me these images from her special wedding day in North Wales.  These are some of my favorite wedding photos, I can really feel the love and fun in this wedding!

Here is Cher's wedding story:

"It was a brilliant day - really relaxed.  We got married in Ruthin in North Wales and then had a party in our garden - there's loads of room because we live on a farm.  We had an inflatable assault course for the kids and a caricaturist instead of a photographer - I hate having my photo taken!  A band called My Eleventh Toe from Chester played in the afternoon and we had a beautiful buffet prepared by my new sister and mother-in-law, a hog roast and free bar.  At night we had an Elton John tribute act and had firepits around the garden.  It was fabulous - and stayed dry and sunny and warm which was a bit of a mini-miracle!

Thank you again!"

-Cher

To reflect her unique sense of style, Cher chose a black birdcage veil paired with a black and champagne feather flower fascinator headpiece.

Bridal Feather Fascinator with Ribbon Roses and Birdcage Veil

I was asked to modify a design I had listed for sale in my Etsy shop.  Often I will take one of my existing bridal headpiece designs and rework just one element to create a whole new design.  In this case, I had sold my popular "Denise" Bridal Feather Flower Fascinator and Birdcage Veil Set, but the bride didn't want a crystal or pearl center accent.   We discussed her ideas and I had her send me photos of her wedding gown.  Her bridal gown was very vintage in style, so at first I tried incorporating a vintage velvet millinery flower (circa 1940s) into the flower, but she didn't think that was quite the look she was after.

Feather Flower with Vintage Millinery

Her garter belt featured some handmade ribbon roses.  So, I picked up on that ribbon rose design element, and made ivory ribbon roses which I tucked into the feather flower fascinator base.   I also added little swatches of ivory lace, and some accent feathers.  This was just perfect: it matched the gown style as well as the bride's garter belt!

Feather Flower Hair Clip with Ribbon Roses - Paired with a Birdcage Veil for a Set

If you like one of my current designs for sale in my online bridal hair accessories shop, but want a minor variation or modification made, just email me at EllenMariePDX [at] gmail.com.  Because most of my bridal headpieces are made to order, I can usually make minor changes for no additonal cost or for a small fee:  if you would like a custom color dyed to match your wedding colors, for example.

If you would like a couture bridal hair flower that is one of a kind and made to match your bridal gown, contact me for a quote.  You can send your bridal gown photos and other inspiration, and together we can come up with the perfect design just for you.

I don't just do bridal hair flowers - I also make hats and headpieces for any occasion.   I send my unique hair accessories around the world, and to brides here in the USA.  This one is headed to Maryland.

Custom Bridal Headpiece - Couture Orchid Flower Fascinator Set with Veil

This week I was asked to create an orchid hair flower set with veil.  Orchid flowers are a beautiful choice to wear in your hair and they come in so many colors and styles that you are sure to find one that matches your wedding gown and theme.

I can create a custom bridal hair clip that uses any type of flower.  I will hand cut silk fabric and other materials and shape roses using vintage millinery tools and techniques, for example.  With orchids I typically use high quality silk flowers to create the headpiece, since the stamen shape and form is so unique in an orchid.

A bride asked me to create an orchid hair flower set with bandeau birdcage veil.  She wanted her orchid hair flowers to match her lavender and purple wedding colors with yellow accents.  The first set we created was in a light lavender orchid flower on a base of ivory feathers with marigold yellow accents to match wedding colors.  However, the color didn't seem quite right, so we made a second set, this time in a much richer and deeper purple, burgundy, and lavender hue.  Here are the two variations I made:

Orchid Bridal Fascinator Set with Lavender and Yellow Accents

Orchid Fascinators with Birdcage Veil

Final Design: Purple Orchids on Purple and Burgundy Feather Base

I can create bridal orchid hair flowers using any color orchids, of course.  Any accents can be used in the center of your orchid, such as a pearl or crystal accent, or you may leave them plain.

Orchid with Pearl Cluster

Orchid fascinators can be made on small clips or combs, or they may be incorporated into a larger orchid flower fascinator.

If you would like your own bespoke orchid flower headpiece, just contact me via email at EllenMariePDX [at] gmail.com, or visit my website at http://www.ellenmariedesign.com/.  You can send your bridal gown photos and other inspiration ideas, and we can discuss your design.  I send my couture bridal headpieces to brides all over the world, and here in the USA.  This orchid hair flower with veil set is headed to Ohio.

Custom Bridal Headpiece using Vintage Comb

I do a lot of custom bridal headpiece designs, and from time to time I am asked to incorporate the bride's own brooch or in this case, a vintage hair comb that the bride had purchased from Etsy.  The gorgeous hair comb was incorporated into a champagne feather fascinator headpiece with two handmade feather flowers with pearls.  A champagne flower rosette was then handrafted from silk tafetta, to pick up the floral rosette design in the skirt of the bride's wedding gown.  I really like the way this headpiece turned out and it should complement her wedding gown very nicely.

If you would like me to make a bespoke bridal fascinator for your wedding using your vintage or antique brooch or other heirloom jewelry component, send me an email and we can discuss your ideas and I can provide a quote.  I can be reached at http://www.ellenmariedesign.com/ or email to EllenMariePDX [at] gmail.com.  I ship my bridal fascinators worldwide: this lovely creation is headed off to Canada.

Today's Custom Bridal Birdcage Veil Set

I have so much fun designing custom bridal fascinators and birdcage veil sets.  This week's request came from Kimberly to customize a white and black fascinator she saw on my site, to a RED and black fascinator along with a black mini cap style birdcage veil.  Here is her design:

"Kimberly" Black and Red Bridal Fascinator with Black Mini Birdcage Veil

"Kimberly" Black and Red Bridal Fascinator with Black Mini Birdcage Veil Set.  This stunning bridal fascinator birdcage veil set features gorgeous red goose feathers accented with fabulous black ostrich fringe and goose biots.  A Swarovski crystal button brooch adds some sparkle.  This set comes with a 9 inch short mini black birdcage veil on a satin ribbon-wrapped comb.  The veil may be worn separately so you can still wear the bridal feather hair clip during your reception.

Thanks, Kimberly, it was a ton of fun working with you on this dramatic black and red bridal fascinator and veil set!

Real Bride - Channie Hunter Wedding

Below are wedding photos of Channie Hunter and Daryl Thornton.  Channie's wedding was in May, but I am very behind in posting my real brides on the blog - thanks for being so patient, Channie!

Channie's Wedding Details
Bride's and Groom's Name:  Channie and Daryl Thornton
Where did you get married?  - Raleigh Rose Garden (Raleigh, North Carolina)
Our Story:  The Bride and Groom met at the workplace in July 2005, and started dating in July 2008.  He proposed a year after the day we started dating, at the restaurant of our first date: Twisted Fork.
Wedding Theme: Love Blooms Forever.

Wedding Colors:  Terracotta and Champagne.

Special touches:  The wedding party tossed rose petals at us at the end of the ceremony.  We also did the "cord of three strands" unity ceremony.

Congratulations, Channie and Daryl!

What a beautiful wedding, thanks so much for sharing with us!

Channie selected a champagne birdcage veil and champagne bridal fascinator with crystal and pearl brooch accents.  I also designed her wedding jewelry including her pearl cluster necklace, and the champagne pearl bridesmaids sets.  Channie - it was an absolute pleasure working with you on your wedding design, and I wish you and your groom much happiness!

There are few things as fun and rewarding as designing custom bridal veils and accessories.  I get a chance to be a part of someone's vision for their most special day, by helping to bring the bride's design ideas to life.  Whatever your wedding theme, colors, or sense of style, I thoroughly enjoy meeting brides (on-line, usually--thanks to the web!) then exchanging photos and ideas, and creating the designs.
